Building the “Help Me Answer” Drawer

Mokchi

The first version of answer coaching expanded directly beneath the interview question.

It worked.

It was also distracting.

Opening help moved the question, answer controls, and surrounding content down the page. The interview stopped feeling stable.

So we changed the model.

Help me answer now belongs in a slide-in drawer from the right.

The interview stays where it is.

The coaching temporarily sits above it.

Inside the drawer, users can see:

  • what the question is testing
  • what a strong answer should establish
  • suggested structure
  • answer principles
  • example answers when needed

After answering, the same space can show:

  • what worked
  • what was missing
  • what the interviewer may challenge
  • what to focus on in a retry

The goal is simple:

Coaching should support the interview, not take over the interview.
